外交の世界史の再構築

2026年度　活動報告

2026年9月4日、ライデン大学のキャンパス内に所在するオランダ王立東南アジア・カリブ海研究所（Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde, KITLV）において、ワークショップ“Legal Encounters: Law, Treaties, and Diplomacy across Cultures in Eastern Indonesian Archipelago, 1600–1700”を開催しました。約30名の参加者を得て、盛況のうちに活発な議論が行われました。

開催の趣旨と概要は下記のとおりです。
We wish to warmly invite you to a workshop about law, treaties and diplomacy in the early modern Eastern Archipelago, organized on the occasion of a visit of prof. Fuyuko Matsukata and dr. Norifumi Daito (both U-Tokyo) to the Netherlands. U-Tokyo currently hosts a project on the global history of diplomacy. The workshop, chaired by prof. Alicia Schrikker, will provide some background about the project, followed by three papers by Norifumi Daito, Tristan Mostert and Louie Buana. Pichayapat (Toh) Naisupap will provide comments. Also, excitingly, we will use the occasion for a small demonstration of the new beta version of GLOBALISE by Melinda Susanto.

Workshop

ワークショップには、オランダ、インド、スリランカ、インドネシア、タイ、台湾、日本など様々な国の研究者が参加しました。終始和やかな雰囲気の中、率直な質問や課題の提示があり、建設的な議論が行われたことが印象的でした。本会の実現のために尽力してくださったすべての方々に心よりお礼申し上げます。

2026年9月1日～3日、ライデン大学で開催されたEuropean Association for Japanese Resources Specialists (EAJRS)の大会に、大東敬典、松方冬子が参加しました。

　10年ほど前に同じくライデンでEAJRSが開催された時にも参加しましたが、それ以来約10年ぶりの参加となりました。
　10年前より日本人の参加者や報告者がずっと増えており、EAJRSが大きく様変わりしているように感じました。全参加者のうち、半分以上が日本人だったように見受けられました。いつの間にか、多角的、重層的な人間関係のネットワークが構築されていることが感じられました。中には英語の発表に挑戦した日本人報告者もあり、また日本語、英語報告によらず、報告者がとても堂々としていたのが印象的でした。世界は少しずつ、しかし着実に変化しつつあるようです。。
　個人的に一番嬉しかったのは、ヨーロッパの古参の参加者から「史料編纂所から10人も参加するのは、松方さんの奮闘の成果」と言っていただいたことです。今回、私が直接働きかけたわけではないですが、私の今までの活動によって、国際学会への参加にも意味があるとか、楽しいとかいうメッセージが少しでも伝わっていたのであれば、嬉しく思います。

2026年6月2日～9日、松方冬子がベルリンに出張しました。

　マックス・プランク科学史研究所の招聘で、6月3日～5日には、Harnack-Hausで開かれた同研究所主催のワークショップ“Between Observatio and Scholastic Scientia: Indigenous Knowledge, Natural History, and Colonial Universities”に参加し、Jonas Rüegg氏と共同で、口頭報告“From ‘Indigenous’ Knowledge to Academic Authority: Dutch Studies in Japan, 1600-1870”を行いました。その後、Rüegg氏と、外交史PJの今後に向けた研究打合せを行いました。
