DIARIES KEPT BY THE HEAD OF THE ENGLISH FACTORY IN JAPAN
 
The English factory in Hirado was established in 1613.  Richard Cocks was appointed as chief merchant.  The factory was eventually closed in 1623.
 
The transcription of Cocks' diary has been published under an arrangement between the Historiographical Institute and the British Library. The details of the volumes are as follows:
